CAIRO – 26 August 2024: The Damietta Port Authority has announced that it has successfully received a significant shipment of 66,000 metric tons of wheat from Russia. The cargo vessel, the ANTHOS, arrived at the port over the past 24 hours.

This latest development underscores the port's ongoing commitment to facilitating international trade and ensuring the country's food security.

In addition to the wheat shipment, the port has been actively handling a variety of other commodities. Over the past day, a total of 9 vessels have arrived at the port, while 13 others have departed. The port currently has 31 vessels berthed.

The port has also seen a notable increase in both imports and exports of general cargo. Imports include various commodities such as timber, feldspar, corn, sugar, iron, and livestock. Exports consist primarily of cement, molasses, urea, sand, and a range of other goods.

Furthermore, the port has experienced a significant uptick in container traffic, with a combined total of 6,176 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) handled over the past 24 hours.

The port's grain silos currently hold a substantial reserve of 76,563 metric tons of wheat for the public sector, while private sector storage facilities contain an additional 105,140 metric tons.
