CAIRO – 25 August 2024: The 35th international conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Endowments (Awqaf) kicked off in Cairo on Sunday under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Chaired by Egypt’s Minister of Awqaf Osama El-Azhari, the conference brings together ministers, muftis, and scholars from more than 60 countries for discussions about the “Role of Women in Building Awareness.”

The theme of this unconventional conference is centered around the importance of empowering women, highlighting their crucial role in various aspects of life.

Extending until Monday, the conference is set to discuss the role of women in building religious and cultural awareness and serving the community. It will also discuss the great efforts made by women in building the family and raising children.

The conference will shed light on the Egyptian experience in empowering women and the role of women in promoting values of tolerance, coexistence, and peace.

The Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf emphasized that the message of the conference is that women's participation in various social, political, economic, and religious spheres makes our world more just, peaceful, and secure.

The conference will emphasize that building civilizations is only achieved through the contribution of educated and aware women.

During his remarks at the conference, Azhari commended women as the key to success in life and the stability of homelands, speaking on behalf of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

Azhari affirmed that Islam boosts the status of women and protects their rights.

He referred to the situation in the Palestinian territories, stressing that the Palestinian women have set an example of persistence, enduring the bitterness of losing their family members. However, they continued building generational awareness for the sake of the homeland.

Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance Sheikh Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh said that Islam gave women their full rights and maintained their dignity in an unprecedented way.

He added Islam ordered Muslims to respect women, noting that women in Saudi Arabia received their full rights under the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

He added that the Saudi women now enjoy rights in the domains of education, health and leadership jobs.
