CAIRO – 25 August 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expats Badr Abdelatty met Sunday with his Japanese counterpart Yoko Kamikawa upon her request – in light of the recent escalation on the Lebanese-Israeli front - on the sidelines of TICAD's ministerial meeting.

There was congruence among the two ministers on the necessity of inhibiting further escalation in the Middle East, and thereby, avoiding a regional war. They agreed that the de-escalation efforts should have at the center a ceasefire in Gaza and captive exchange between Israel and Hamas, in addition to an unconditional supply of humanitarian and medical aid to Gazans.

Minister Abdelatty and Minister Kamikawa had met earlier during the former's current visit to Tokyo as they discussed bilateral relations and international affairs of joint interest.
