The plan was presented during a cabinet meeting that was held on Thursday at the government's headquarters in New Alamein city under Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli.

Fouad said the plan focuses on addressing the black cloud on the short and long term.

She stated the reasons for the appearance of the black cloud include burning agricultural and municipal solid waste in the open air, industrial activities and vehicle exhausts.

The minister asserted the black cloud is addressed through the early warning system in areas of direct impact.

She pointed to the formation of a higher committee to combat the black cloud in the autumn and winter seasons, with a view to coordinating the efforts among the Ministries of Environment, Local Development, Agriculture, Health, Interior and Transport and Industry to reduce air pollution and enhance its quality.
