CAIRO - 19 August 2024: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Egypt and Qatar play a major role in reaching an agreement on Gaza.
During a press conference held in Tel Aviv, and broadcast by Al-Qahera News TV Channel, Blinked said "we will not give up on reaching a truce agreement in Gaza, and the truce in Gaza will take place in stages in conjunction with the exchange of detainees, and Hamas must accept the current proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza."
Blinken reiterated United States' commitment to Israel's security, adding "we seek to return the detainees and bring aid to those in need in Gaza."
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that he will visit Egypt and Qatar to discuss ways to cease fire in the Gaza Strip and reach an agreement to release the hostages held in the Strip since October 7.
He pointed out that he held talks with both President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, on ways to cease fire in the Gaza Strip.
He further added that reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza is the best way to release the hostages and lead a diplomatic campaign to prevent the expansion of the conflict in the region.
The US Secretary of State explained that "Netanyahu confirmed that Israel accepted the proposal that was presented, stressing that in the coming days, experts will work to provide a clear understanding of the implementation of the agreement."
The Israeli occupation forces continue to launch hundreds of raids and artillery shelling and commit crimes in various parts of the Gaza Strip, commit bloody massacres against civilians, and horrific crimes in the areas of penetration, amid a catastrophic humanitarian situation as a result of the siege and the displacement of more than 90 percent of the population.
The Israeli occupation aircraft destroyed entire residential blocks in the Gaza Strip, as part of the comprehensive destruction policy pursued by the occupation in its ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip.
Thousands of martyrs and injured have not yet been recovered from under the rubble due to the continued Israeli bombing and the seriousness of the field conditions, in light of the stifling siege on the strip and the severe restrictions on the entry of fuel and urgent vital aid to alleviate the catastrophic humanitarian conditions.
