Egyptian PM Mostafa Madbouly gives a recorded speech at the 43rd World Scout Conference in Cairo - Egyptian Cabinet
CAIRO – 18 August 2024: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said Wednesday that holding the 43rd World Scout Conference in Egypt, under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and with full government support, reflects keenness on re-involving youth in the sustainable development process.
Madbouly, in a recorded speech during the inauguration of the conference Saturday night, pointed to accelerated global changes that entail further action to determine a mechanism by which to push youth forward and hone their skills.
The youth should keep up with the fast pace of technology, while working on their humanitarian values and creativity, the premier advised.
He stressed that the youth make up a huge segment of the Egyptian social fabric, considering this an advantage that should be used and supported.
Madbouly touched upon a clear strategic vision – Egypt Vision 2030 – that is meant to introduce a comprehensive transformation in all fields of life through enhancing the quality of education, upgrading the infrastructure, improving living conditions and supporting economic and social development.
The premier said his government launched the 2024 program, which, he added, aims to achieve tangible progress particularly where human and economic development is concerned.
Building the Egyptian people is in the heart of this program, Madbouly noted.
43rd World Scout Conference
The 43rd World Scout Conference kicked off on August 17 and will continue until August 23 in Cairo with the participation of 176 national scouting organizations.
More than 2,000 participants, including high-level delegations and representatives of international and UN bodies, are taking part in the conference.
The event addresses crucial issues such as environmental sustainability and peace in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. It celebrates the significant contributions made by the Scouts around the world.
The conference is held every three years, providing members of the World Organization of the Scout Movement with the opportunity to play an active role in shaping the standards, policies, and common goals of the scouting movement worldwide.
The conference sets the general policy for the World Organization of the Scout Movement, makes decisions to enhance the objectives and interests of the scouting movement, elects voting members of the World Scout Committee.
It also recognizes the acceptance of new associations as members in the movement, and decides on the host countries for future world scouting events.
The opening of conference was held at the Al-Qobba presidential palace, attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohammed, along with several senior officials, and members of the Egyptian and international scouting communities.
