CAIRO – 15 August 2024: Egyptian Ambassador to Malabo Hadad Abdel Tawab met earlier this week Equatoguinean Minister of Health and Social Care Damaso Mitoha Ayecaba to confer over the implementation of cooperation proposals on healthcare and pharmaceuticals.
The talks included medical tourism to Egypt, and the planned launch of branches and storehouses by Egyptian pharmaceutical companies in Equatorial Guinea to both fulfill local needs and supply to neighboring states in Central Africa.
Minister Ayecaba welcomed Egypt's readiness to deliver training to Equatoguinean fresh graduate doctors, nurses, and lab technicians. In the same context, the minister lauded the competence of Egyptian doctors working in private hospitals in his country. Hence, he discussed with the Egyptian ambassador the possibility of delegating more Egyptian physicians and management of hospitals by Egyptian firms.
The Equatoguinean minister expressed his country's eagerness for being part of the initiative launched by Egypt in 2019 to treat African citizens from hepatitis C, and readiness to send medics to train in Egypt on treating the disease.
