CAIRO – 12 August 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expats Badr Abdelatty and his Rwandan counterpart Olivier Nduhungirehe attended Monday the signing of an MoU on cooperation in the transport sector, and announced Rwanda's allocation of a land plot for Egypt to establish a logistic zone on the borders with Tanzania.
Minister Abdelatty is on a visit to Rwanda to attend the oath ceremony of President Paul Kagame. On the sidelines, he met with Minister Nduhungirehe underscoring the importance of devising African solutions for African issues, which is the principle embraced by Egypt during its current membership of the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC) and manifested in the country's leadership of post-conflict reconstruction on the continent.
As for bilateral ties, Minister Abdelatty expressed Egypt's readiness to upgrade the political dialogue with Rwanda, and re-launch the joint committee to create more collaboration opportunities, especially in the sectors of investment, water resource management and pharmaceuticals.
In that context, the Egyptian minister invited his Rwandan counterpart to visit Cairo. They also held talks on a number of ongoing crises such as the wars in Gaza and Sudan as well as tensions in Libya. In addition, they discussed cooperation among Nile Basin countries, bilateral collaboration at the African Union's activities, and MoUs that will be signed soon.
