CAIRO – 12 August 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expats Badr Abdelatty met Sunday with Somalian President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud on the sidelines of the oath ceremony of the Rwandan president.

Minister Abdelatty delivered the greetings of President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi, and expressed Egypt's commitment to continue elevating relations with Somalia in all fields.

The minister equally stressed Egypt's backing to Somalia's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, which was valued by President Mahmoud.

In July, a car bomb exploded at a café – in the Somalian capital of Mogadishu - that was packed with football fans who were watching the Euro 24 final, incurring the death of nine and injury of 20. The attack was carried out by Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabab, which has been active in the country for 17 years.

In March, a terror attack targeted a hotel located near the presidential palace, killing three and injuring 27.
