CAIRO – 11 August 2024: Get ready for a mix of scorching heat in all areas across Egypt this week along with windy surprises and high waves in the North Coast as per the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecast.

While most parts of Egypt brace for the heat, the North Coast offers a more bearable climate, a welcome relief as always.

Meanwhile, Sunday brings windy weather, swirling through Alexandria, Alamein, and Matrouh. Winds reaching 30-50 km/hour will whip up waves reaching between 1.5-2.5 meters high.

In a twist of fate, Upper Egypt paints a different picture, with the EMA predicting a chance of moderate, possibly thunderous rain until Monday.

Keep an eye out for rainfall in Abu Simbel, Aswan, New Valley, and Sharq El-Owainat.

Beat the heat

Do your best to avoid heat stress -or even heatstroke- this week.

To beat the heat, make sure you stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty.

Avoid direct sun exposure between 10 AM and 4 PM, and seek shade whenever possible.

It is also time to channel your inner fashionista by opting for lightweight clothing that will not trap as much heat. White clothing is your summer savior!
