CAIRO – 10 August 2024: Egypt strongly condemned the Israeli bombing of the Al-Tabi'in School, which was housing displaced Palestinians in the Al-Daraj neighborhood east of Gaza City. The Israeli attack killed more than 100 Palestinian civilians and left dozens injured.

In a press release issued on Saturday, Egypt denounced the ongoing Israeli attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip, highlighting a severe disregard for international and humanitarian law. Egypt called for a unified and effective international response to protect the Palestinian people and end the attacks on defenseless civilians.

Egypt stated that the ongoing large-scale crimes and the deliberate killing of unarmed civilians, even as mediation efforts intensify to reach a ceasefire, clearly demonstrate a lack of political will from the Israeli side to end the conflict. This situation perpetuates the severe human suffering of Palestinians amid an international humanitarian crisis that the global community has been unable to resolve.

Egypt stressed that it will continue its diplomatic endeavors and intensive contacts with all influential parties internationally, to ensure the access of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip by all means and methods, and to work to reach a ceasefire, no matter how much hardship it may endure or obstacles it may face.

The Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza stated that the massacre at the Tabi'in School constitutes a war crime in every sense of the term.

The Palestinian Civil Defense reported that the Al-Tabi'een School, which was attacked at dawn today, was housing approximately 2,400 people. The school was hit by three missiles, including at least one Mk-84 missile, which weighs 2,000 pounds.

Israel also attacked several places in the Gaza Strip, killing more people over the last 24 hours; It attacked Jabalia al-Balad in north of the Strip, west of the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza Strip, and tents for the displaced on al-Mazra'a Street in Deir al-Balah Governorate, central Gaza Strip.
