Egypt, UNICEF discuss social protection of children, refugee services

CAIRO – 7 August 2024: Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi met Tuesday with UNICEF Representative in Egypt Jeremy Hopkins as they discussed cooperation on providing social protection to children and care pertinent to early childhood, upgrading the skills of institutional service providers, as well as the positive education and case management programme.

 

The meeting also tackled services offered to refugees, and psychological and social support programmes delivered to Palestinian children residing in Egypt. The two sides further conferred over crystallizing a vision for future joint projects to be implemented by 2030.  

 

In March, the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM) and UNICEF launched the National Strategy for Early Childhood Development 2024 – 2029 which should contribute to combating poverty, and promoting equal opportunities.
