CAIRO – 7 August 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expats Badr Abdelatty made Wednesday a phone call to Iranian counterpart Ali Bagheri Kani in the framework of communication held by Egypt to contain escalation in the Middle East and encourage all parties to exercise self-restraint in order to avoid the expansion of the scope of conflict.
The communication held by Minister Abdelatty with different parties with the aim of de-escalation over the past few weeks included three phone calls with the U.S. secretary of state, and others with the foreign ministers of China, Russia, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Iran, Jordan, Qatar, Algeria, and Lebanon.
Further, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Tuesday a phone call from U.S. President Joe Biden, during which they discussed regional developments and the tensions in the Middle East.
