CAIRO – 6 August 2024: Hamas announced, Tuesday Yahya Sinwar as head of the movement’s political bureau, succeeding Ismail Haniyeh.

The Palestinian Islamic Movement of Hamas announced last Wednesday the assassination of the movement's political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in an Israeli raid on his residence in the Iranian capital Tehran.

He described the assassination as a "dangerous escalation," calling on the Palestinian people to remain steadfast, united and cohesive in the wake of the escalation of the Israeli aggression.
