Egypt reaffirms support for Somali sovereignty

CAIRO – 6 August 2024: Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Malim Fiqi Ahmed, expressed his sincere thanks to the Arab Republic of Egypt for its unwavering support and longstanding position on Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

 

This statement was issued by the Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Tuesday.

 

In a recent press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, reaffirmed Egypt's firm stance on the necessity of maintaining the unity of the Somali state.

 

He also rejected the memorandum of understanding signed between the separatist region of Somaliland and Ethiopia in January 2024.
