CAIRO – 2 August 2024: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration Badr Abdel-Atyand his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan addressed the dangerous regional escalation in recent days as a result of extremist Israeli policies and the assassination approach it adopts.

 

During a phone call between the two Ministers, they tackled ways to contain the ongoing confrontations, according to a statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Minister.

 

Both Ministers also touched on the serious and persistent efforts made by Cairo and Riyadh to resolve the Sudanese crisis and stop the ongoing conflict there with the aim of preserving the unity and sovereignty of brotherly Sudan, through joint work to cease fire and provide humanitarian aid.

 

At level of the bilateral relations, Abdel-Aty stressed during the call the depth of the fraternal relations between the two countries, and ways to advance aspects of cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia at various levels, stressing his keenness to continue mutual coordination and consultation to confront challenges at the regional and international levels.

 

He also stressed the importance of stopping the ongoing escalation, and the necessity for major international powers, led by the United States, to assume their role and responsibility in stopping the pace of this escalation.

 

For his part, His Prince bin Farhan expressed his aspiration to continue the path of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, and to continue joint cooperation to enhance the pace of coordination and consultation in connection with regional issues and challenges, in a way that achieves the interests of the two peoples, and works to ensure the security and stability of the region.

 

Israel assassinated head of the Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh, with his body guard, in his residency in the Iranian capital Tehran on July 31, after attending the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. A day earlier, Israel assassinated Senior Commander Sayyed Fouad Ali Shokr (Sayyed Mohsen), the second man in the Lebanese Hezbollah by targeting him on Tuesday, August 30, 2024.

 

Meanwhile, the Global Coalition Against Daesh- led by Israeli ally, the US, launched airstrike against personnel from the Iraq Popular Mobilization Forces, which affiliates to the Iraqi army. Iran, Hezbollah and Iraqi Army vowed to revenge for those who killed by Israel.

 

Additionally, Arab, Muslim and other countries voiced their concern about these political assassinations as these could lead to a regional all-out war.
