Political bureau chief of Hamas Movement Ismail Haniyeh - file

CAIRO - 31 July 2024: Hamas announced Wednesday the assassination of the movement's political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh after an Israeli raid targeting his residence in the Iranian capital Tehran. 

Al-Qahera News TV channel reported, as quoting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the killing of Ismail_Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement and his companion Wassim Abu Shaaban in Tehran as a result of the raid.

Hamas Movement stated that Ismail Haniyeh's assassination came following his participation in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian. 

According to Palestinian media, as quoting Iranian sources, Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated with a missile aimed directly at his body.
