Blinken makes phone call to Egyptian FM to discuss Lebanon, Gaza, Sudan

CAIRO – 30 July 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expats Badr Abdel Aty received Tuesday a phone call from U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken as they conferred over the situation in Lebanon, Gaza Strip and Sudan as well as updates of bilateral relations.

 

The Egyptian minister, who is in Tehran to attend the oath ceremony of the Iranian president-elect, asserted the necessity of preserving the security of Lebanon and protecting the interest of its people.

 

 On that front, he presented the content of communication between Egypt and different parties to achieve de-escalation on the Lebanese-Israeli borders which was valued by the U.S. secretary of state.

 

The two diplomats equally discussed mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire in each of Gaza and Sudan, and that would allow more flow of humanitarian aid in both, and exchange of captives in the former.
