"One Hand" campaign supports 1.5 Million Egyptian families

CAIRO – 29 July 2024: The "One Hand" campaign is a result of fruitful cooperation between the government, represented by the National Alliance for Civil Development Work, the Decent Life Foundation, and the Egyptian Red Crescent.

 

This campaign aims to provide comprehensive developmental support to 1.5 million of the most needy families across Egypt, offering food support and easing their burdens, especially amidst the current economic hardships. Throughout the campaign, food parcels will be distributed to families in need.

 

Dr. Ayman Mahsab, a member of the House of Representatives, emphasized the importance of efforts by the National Alliance for Civil Development Work, the Decent Life Foundation, and the Egyptian Red Crescent. He highlighted that the "One Hand" campaign resulted from productive cooperation between civil society and the Ministry of Social Solidarity. The campaign targets providing comprehensive developmental support to 1.5 million needy families across Egypt.

 

Dr. Mahsab pointed out that the campaign aims to provide food support to needy families and alleviate their burdens, especially given the current economic difficulties. The campaign's efforts are part of the National Alliance's broader mission to achieve sustainable development and improve societal conditions.

 

Dr. Mahsab underscored that the National Alliance and Decent Life have become crucial arms of the state in achieving development and enhancing social protection for the most needy groups. He praised their shift from traditional methods, emphasizing their significant role in providing financial and service support, raising awareness, and empowering women and youth.

 

The campaign reflects the National Alliance's commitment to creating a model for voluntary work and community cooperation. It aims to enhance community participation in development and volunteer activities, making civil work a cornerstone of state efforts to achieve comprehensive development.

 

Dr. Jehan Medih, Chair of the Egypt October Party, praised the "One Hand" campaign, launched by the Ministry of Social Solidarity in collaboration with the National Alliance, Decent Life Foundation, and Egyptian Red Crescent. She highlighted the campaign's importance in supporting vulnerable groups amidst the economic challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian-Ukrainian war, and regional conflicts. Dr. Medih emphasized the campaign's exemplary role in providing comprehensive support to 1.5 million needy families nationwide.

 

Dr. Medih commended the "One Hand" campaign's efforts to provide food support to struggling families, thereby alleviating their burdens during these tough economic times. The initiative aims to distribute food baskets containing essential family needs throughout the campaign's duration.

 

She stressed that the campaign showcases fruitful coordination between state institutions and civil organizations, highlighting the genuine partnership between the government and community sectors to tackle social and economic challenges.

 

The National Alliance's efforts in launching the "One Hand" campaign reflect its dedication to supporting the state and enhancing volunteerism. The alliance has consistently worked to eliminate benefit duplication and unify the efforts of civil society organizations to alleviate the burdens on citizens. The alliance follows an organized strategy to ensure aid reaches those most in need, expanding its support base to include families severely affected by recent economic challenges.

 

The National Alliance has launched several pioneering initiatives aimed at improving the lives of citizens and vulnerable groups, such as the "Boats of Livelihood" initiative to provide modern fishing boats, the "Home Reconstruction" initiative to repair and renew damaged homes, the "Joy of My Heart" initiative to bring happiness to citizens, and the "Plant" initiative to support small farmers and expand agricultural lands.

 

Additionally, the "Cover and Health" caravans offer diverse services, including medical convoys, food and meat distribution, blankets, and affordable clothing exhibitions. The alliance also works to release indebted women, provide home water connections, and promote volunteerism, continuing its charitable efforts across Egypt.

 

Lieutenant General Dr. Reda Farhat, Deputy Chair of the Conference Party and Professor of Political Science, praised the "One Hand" campaign, launched by the Ministry of Social Solidarity in collaboration with the National Alliance, Decent Life Foundation, and Egyptian Red Crescent.

 

The campaign aims to assist 1.5 million families, fostering a spirit of cooperation and solidarity among Egyptians. It calls for collective action to achieve common goals, improving citizens' lives and supporting the most needy groups, reinforcing social justice as a top priority on the national agenda under President Sisi's directives.

 

Professor Farhat highlighted the continuous coordination between state institutions and civil organizations, including the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Egyptian Red Crescent, to support the most vulnerable. He noted the unprecedented progress in social protection, achieved through President Sisi's directives, with the National Alliance successfully reaching millions of Egyptians over the past two years, ensuring aid delivery to those in need.

 

Professor Farhat emphasized that the "One Hand" campaign addresses current challenges by fostering collaborative efforts to overcome economic crises and social challenges. The campaign embodies the core values of Egyptian society, such as giving, solidarity, and cooperation. Citizens' participation in the campaign reflects their national spirit and responsibility towards their community, as collective efforts and teamwork are essential to overcoming today's challenges.

 

Initiatives like Decent Life and the "One Hand" campaign strengthen national spirit and demonstrate the Egyptian people's ability to overcome difficulties through joint efforts and productive collaboration.

 

Professor Farhat stressed the need for genuine partnerships among all sectors to support the campaign and ensure its goals are achieved. Government institutions can provide logistical and financial support, while non-governmental organizations can organize events and initiatives that contribute to the campaign's objectives.

 

Professor Farhat expressed hope that the "One Hand" campaign would pave the way for more national initiatives, enhancing community unity and achieving sustainable development. He emphasized the importance of everyone working together to face challenges, saying, "We must all be one hand in facing the challenges."
