Naval forces successfully rescue boat carrying 31 illegal immigrants

CAIRO – 23 July 2024: The Naval Forces have successfully rescued a boat carrying 31 persons of various nationalities attempting illegal migration, after it experienced a technical malfunction 130 nautical miles from Salloum.

This comes as part of the ongoing efforts by the naval forces to support maritime search and rescue operations in all strategic directions.

A report had indicated the discovery of a boat carrying individuals for the purpose of illegal migration, which had a machine malfunction. The General Command of the Armed Forces issued orders to provide support and assistance to the boat.

Immediately, the naval forces dispatched rescue units equipped with all necessary medical and administrative supplies to carry out relief and evacuation operations for the individuals on the boat.

The naval units were able to rescue 30 individuals, including 5 in critical condition, in addition to retrieving one deceased individual. The rescued individuals were handed over to the relevant authorities to take the necessary actions regarding them
