CAIRO – 23 July 2024: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed Tuesday the agreement reached by the Yemeni government and Houthis to resolve the crisis and that was announced earlier by the UN special envoy for Yemen.

The ministry expressed hope that the agreement would be the first step on the pathway of implementing UNSC resolution no. 2216 mandating restraint from the use of violence and imposing embargo on arms supply to certain entities.

The statement also affirmed that Egypt would study the possibility of resuming direct flights between Cairo and Sanaa in light of technical and logistical conditions.

On Saturday, Israeli fighter jets hit oil storage facilities at Hodeidah Port after a Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv that killed a civilian and injured 10 others. The Israeli army said that the strike also comes in response to over 220 projectiles fired by the Houthis at Israel.
