CAIRO – 23 July 2024: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour stated Monday that the political leadership had approved the allocation of 100 feddans to the establishment of dorms for students in the New Administrative Capital with a capacity of 12,000 guests.

The city houses branches of foreign universities and the government is working on increasing their number. Hence, the goal is facilitating the residence of both Egyptian and foreign students, and equipping it with all the services they would need.

Five foreign universities have begun operation in the new capital; and, as part of its social responsibility activities, the New Administrative Capital Company granted 80 students from Upper Egyptian governorates scholarships at those establishments.

Chairman of the company Khaled Abbas told the Middle East News Agency (MENA) in June that 1,000 families were living in the city, and that there was a target for one million citizens to live in the city in the coming three years.

Highlighting other key figures, the official stated that 18 banks (out of 38) had set up headquarters in the business park along with those of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and the Egyptian Exchange.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli attended in January the ceremony held to celebrate the delivery of the first three towers - out of 20 - at the New Administrative Capital’s Central Business District (CBD) and that are built in cooperation with China State Construction Engineering (CSCE).
