Tunisia sent its 1st aid-laden ship to Gaza via Egypt

CAIRO - 22 July 2024: On Monday, the first Tunisian ship carrying hundreds of tons of medical and food aid departed from the port of Rades heading to Egypt in order to be sent to Gaza.
 
This comes within the framework of humanitarian solidarity with the Palestinian people, according to what was confirmed by the official spokeswoman for the Tunisian Red Crescent, Buthaina Qaraqba.
 
According to the Tunisian News Agency “WAT”, Qaraqba said that the “Human Solidarity Ship” carries on board 1,609 tons of medical and food aid, two ambulances, 4 mobile units for basic health care, 19 water tanks, and a mobile blood filtration center, in addition to medicines and aid. Food and covers.
 
The official spokeswoman for the Tunisian Red Crescent indicated that the ship will arrive at Port Said port in Egypt after three days, pointing out that it will then be unloaded into trucks to be transported overland to Gaza via the Rafah border crossing, in coordination with the Egyptian authorities and the Egyptian Red Crescent.
 
This is the sixth aid shipment sent by Tunisia to Gaza as part of its humanitarian solidarity with the killing, destruction and settlement facing the Palestinian people.
 
In the past few months, Tunisia sent 5 military planes carrying hundreds of tons of medical and food aid for the benefit of the residents of Gaza.
