CAIRO - 22 July 2024: Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation denied reports circulating on social media about a crash of an Egyptian plane and death of all passengers

The Ministry affirmed that all such claims are groundless.

It also called upon all media outlets and social media users to be vigilant and make sure of any piece of news before publishing it in order not to cause chaos and concerns among the citizens.

Officials told Al Arabiya T.V. that it was not real but an emergency test was conducted by competent authorities in Sudan, clarifying that it took place there, not in Morocco or Algeria. It emphasized that the test involved testing transmitters and receivers between call centers.

The sources explained that this test is conducted periodically by most countries to ensure the safety and functionality of transmitting and receiving devices, as well as the promptness and effectiveness of response protocols.

Regarding the circulation of news about the alleged downing of an Egyptian plane, sources said it could be due to leaked information from the distress signals sent during these tests. These signals are intentionally transmitted as if they were real emergencies to evaluate response times. However, in reality, these are only part of routine emergency tests.
