CAIRO - July 21, 2024: In commemoration of the 23 July 1952 Revolution, the Ministry of Interior will grant each inmate a special visiting day to spend more time with their families and loved ones.

This exceptional visit can be enjoyed on any day between Tuesday, 23 July, and Thursday, 22 August, without affecting the scheduled visitation days for the inmates.

The ministry stated that this provision reflects its commitment to upholding human rights values, implementing a modern approach to penal policy, and providing comprehensive care for inmates.

This year, Egyptian public and private sector employees will have a paid holiday on Thursday, 25 July, instead of Tuesday, 23 July, to observe the 72nd anniversary of the iconic revolution, as per a decision by the Cabinet.

The 23 July Revolution took place when a group of remarkable officers, led by Mohamed Naguib and Gamal Abdel Nasser, who later became presidents, led to the toppling of King Farouk.

The revolution, which enjoyed the support of a massive portion of the public, brought an end to the monarchy and declared Egypt as a republic.
