AU mid-year meeting

The phone call between Sisi and Ruto took place ahead of the 6th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union (AU), scheduled for Sunday in Accra, the capital of Ghana.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly arrived in Accra today to attend the event on behalf of President Sisi.

During the event, Madbouly is expected to deliver a speech on the role of the New Partnership for Africa's Development Agency (NEPAD) in promoting regional and continental integration within the framework of Agenda 2063.

Egypt currently holds the presidency of NEPAD, which serves as the implementing arm for the AU's Agenda 2063 development strategy.

The meeting in Accra will be attended by numerous heads of state, government representatives, and African organizations.

In addition, on the sidelines of the visit, Madbouly has scheduled bilateral meetings with officials to discuss initiatives aimed at fostering economic integration across Africa.
