A US official stated that the Israeli air force launched strikes on targets in Hodeidah, as reported by the Israeli website Walla, without providing further details.
The website quoted an Israeli official as asserting that the attack on Yemen is “a purely Israeli operation.”
The Israeli strikes against Yemen's Hodeidah apparently occurred in retaliation for a drone strike claimed by the Houthis near the US embassy in Tel Aviv on Friday, which killed 1 and injured at least 10 others.
The Israeli army said today that the Hodeidah attack comes in response to over 220 projectiles fired by the Houthis at Israelis over the past nine months and their attack on Tel Aviv.
The attack on Tel Aviv occurred without any air raid warning sirens being activated, ranking among the most serious on the Israeli city since the onset of the Israeli war on Gaza on 7 October.
Houthis have escalated their attacks against targets associated with Israel in recent months against the backdrop of the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank over the recent months.
