CAIRO - 19 July 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration Dr. Badr Abdel Aty met with Therese Kikwamba Wagner, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on the sidelines of the sixth coordination meeting of the African Union and the regional economic groupings at the summit level.
 
The official spokesman and director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration stated that Minister Abdel Aty expressed, during the meeting, his aspiration for more coordination and cooperation at a level appropriate to the size of bilateral relations between the two countries, which are witnessing an unprecedented boom during the recent periods of the history of their relations.
 
The official spokesman stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed Egypt’s interest in enhancing security and stability in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, referring to the training courses that Egypt is keen to provide in this regard. As well as Egypt's participation in two police battalions in the United Nations forces to maintain stability in the Congo since the beginning of the mission's mission more than twenty years ago, in addition to Egypt's efforts to continue its support in the stage after the departure of the UN mission that is currently being implemented.
 
Ambassador Abu Zeid added that the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that Egypt will continue its support and assistance to the Congo in its efforts to combat terrorism, in addition to continuing to provide all possible forms of assistance to it as a country that shares historical relations with Egypt that represent a model of cooperation, coordination and mutual support.
 
At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to maintain the pace of coordination and close consultation on all regional and international issues of common interest.
