Brutal heatwave persists across Egypt next week, feel-like temps to soar above 40 degrees

CAIRO - 19 July 2024: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) predicts that this relentless heatwave suffered by all people across the nation will continue tormenting us until the end of next week.

With humidity levels skyrocketing, the feel-like temperatures are set to surpass the 40-degree mark in South Sinai, where the stunning Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh beckons, as well as in Upper Egypt during daylight hours.

In Cairo, expect feel-like temperatures to hover around 40-41 degrees throughout the day.

Meanwhile, our beloved North Coast, home to the popular destinations of Alexandria and Matrouh, will experience a bit more bearable weather, with feel-like temperatures ranging from 35 to 37 degrees next week.

As a heads-up, the EMA notes that agricultural roads, highways, and areas near water bodies will suffer from a possible light water fog on Saturday.

While the heatwave brings unwelcome news for everyone across the country, there's a silver lining. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced the suspension of the load-shedding program from next Sunday until mid-September, thanks to a whopping $1.18 billion plan to import more fuel.
