CAIRO – 16 July 2024: The Ministry of Interior released a statement Tuesday announcing the arrest of a technician who confessed that he had put “offensive words” on a shop’s screen in Giza’s King Faisal Street following the instructions of members of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood.

The incident occurred on Saturday as photos of the Egyptian president were put along with insults and allegations. Also, members of the group circulated photos of all shops in the street closed claiming it was the doing of security forces as a response. Yet, those turned out to be dating back to the 2020 lockdown mandated by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Muslim Brotherhood stood behind many terror attacks in the aftermath of the overthrowing of their regime in 2013; and, even after security has been established, the group keeps propagating misinformation pertinent to political and economic affairs on social media.
