CAIRO - 15 July 2024: Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, announced the addition of 73,000 new families to the Takaful and Karama cash support program starting from July. This expansion follows the program's database across all governorates in Egypt.

The Minister directed the commencement of cash support payments under the Takaful and Karama program for July beneficiaries on Monday, July 15. This includes holders of Meeza bank cards and smart cards issued by the National Postal Authority offices.

Beneficiaries of the conditional cash support program can withdraw funds from all available ATMs nationwide. They can also make electronic payments and conduct all government transactions and purchases.

The Ministry of Social Solidarity has established an operations room to monitor the disbursement of assistance through the Takaful and Karama program. Coordination with governors, directors of social solidarity directorates, and the Egyptian Red Crescent is in place to manage and intervene in case of any congestion or crowding during the payment process.

It is noteworthy that the funding for the Takaful and Karama program has reached EGP 41 billion for the current fiscal year, as per the directives of the President. The program currently benefits nearly 21 million citizens, representing approximately 5.2 million families.
