CAIRO – 14 July 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expats Badr Abdel Aty received Saturday French Presidential Advisor for Middle East Anne-Claire Legendre as they discussed updates of the Gaza War.

Minister Abdel Aty presented the mediation endeavors with Qatar and the United States as well as the strenuous efforts deployed by Egypt to deliver humanitarian aid circumventing the obstacles set by Israel.

In turn, Lengendre highlighted France's attempts to create an international momentum that supports the Palestinian Cause. In that framework, the foreign minister showcased the necessity that the outcomes would include the establishment of the Palestinian State on the borders of June 4, 1967 in alignment with UNSC resolutions.

In a related context, Minister Abdel Aty expressed Egypt's growing concern about the escalation southern Lebanon, stipulating that the Gaza War had to be contained so that its impact would not extend to other areas in the region widening the scope of conflict as it had already reached the Red Sea.

On that front, the minister underscored the salience of holding presidential election in Lebanon, which could be facilitated by achieving agreement among various political powers through the mediation of the five-nation group on Lebanon, comprising the United States, France, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt.
