CAIRO – 14 July 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expats Badr Abdel Aty met Saturday with Officer-in-Charge of UNSMIL Stephanie Khoury expressing aspiration to consolidate cooperation between Egypt and the mission to resolve the Libyan crisis.
The minister noted that Egypt had been backing Libyan parties to achieve national congruence with the aim of starting steps to hold presidential and parliamentary elections. Equally, he asserted the salience of the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya according to a precise timeline in order to maintain the unity of the country.
On her side, Khoury expressed willingness to coordinate with Egypt on accomplishing stability in Libya, in light of the Egyptian central role in resolving the crisis in alignment with UNSC resolutions.
