This came in the Egyptian diplomat's word at a ceremony held on Friday at the premises of the Egyptian embassy in Athens to mark the 72nd anniversary of the July 23 Revolution.

As for Egyptian-Greek ties, he underlined that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis signed a political declaration to establish a high-level cooperation council between Egypt and Greece, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

He deemed this political declaration as an important step that will provide an opportunity to continue promoting bilateral ties as per the principles of international law, mutual trust and respect, the statement added.

Amb. Amer also congratulated Greece for being elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2025-2026 term, with the support of 182 states, it said.
