CAIRO – 11 July 2024: The Egyptian General Authority of Meteorology (EMA) has issued a warning stating that the ongoing extreme heat wave in the country will reach its peak on Thursday and Friday, with temperatures expected to rise across all regions of the Republic.

The authority has indicated that temperatures in Cairo are expected to reach 42°C, while in southern Upper Egypt, temperatures could soar to 46°C.

Thursday marked the peak of the extreme heat wave across most areas, characterized by intensely hot and humid weather during the day. Conditions were particularly hot and humid along the northern coasts, with warm and humid temperatures persisting at night across most regions, and moderate humidity levels along the northern coasts.

Humidity levels are expected to continue rising, which will contribute to the weather feeling even hotter than anticipated, with values increasing by 2 to 3 degrees.
