CAIRO – 9 July 2024: A high-ranking source said that a quartet meeting will take place between the delegations of Egypt, the United States of America, Qatar, and Israel in Doha, on Wednesday, according to al Qahera news channel.

The source revealed that heads of Egyptian and American intelligence will be leading their delegations at the meeting scheduled for tomorrow in Doha after intense discussions in Cairo.

A new round of Gaza ceasefire was held in Cairo on Thursday.

According to a security source, the Egyptian security delegation reiterated Tuesday Egypt’s firm positions on the necessity of an immediate ceasefire and facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip.

The source added that the delegation will head to Doha Wednesday on a mission to bring viewpoints between Hamas and Israel closer to reach a truce agreement as soon as possible.

The source explained that there is agreement on many points in light of the Egyptian security delegation’s continued efforts to bring viewpoints closer between all parties.

President Abdel Fattah al Sisi and Abbas Kamel, head of General Intelligence, received on Tuesday William Burns, head of the US Central Intelligence Agency, and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting dealt with developments in the regional situation and joint efforts to reach an agreement for calm and a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Sisi reiterated the Egyptian position rejecting the continuation of military operations in the Strip, stressing the importance of the international community assuming its responsibilities to stop the war and ensure Palestinians’ access to sufficient aid relief to truly alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe there.

Serious and effective steps to prevent the expansion of the conflict in the region need to be taken while working towards the two-state solution.
