CAIRO – 5 July 2024: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi congratulated newly elected British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on his election victory.
“I extend my sincere congratulations to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Mr. Keir Starmer, after the Labour Party's landslide win in the elections and his appointment as UK Prime Minister.” Sisi wrote on his social media accounts
He added: “I wish Mr. Starmer all success and look forward to continuing cooperation between our two countries, in demonstration of the strong ties the two countries and peoples share, as well as our joint action to achieve development and stability, at both the international and regional levels.”
In a historic turn of events, Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, has emerged as Britain's next prime minister following a decisive victory in the general election.
The appointment was made official during an audience at Buckingham Palace, where King Charles III appointed Starmer to the position, indicating the transfer of power from the Conservative Party to Labour.
The Labour Party's triumph brings an end to 14 years of Conservative rule, which has been marked by periods of public discontent.
Starmer has already set forth a vision to rebuild Britain and tackle the pressing challenges facing the nation.
