CAIRO – 4 July 2024: The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland expressed on Thursday his appreciation to the Egyptian efforts to facilitate the entry of World Health Organization teams into the Gaza Strip.

On Tuesday, the United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Gaza reported that 1.9 million people are currently displaced in the sector. This statement highlights the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The UN official, Sigrid Kaag, expressed "deep concern" over new evacuation orders in Khan Younis. Speaking before the United Nations Security Council, she noted that over a million people have been displaced again, desperately seeking shelter and safety.

Kaag emphasized, "Today, 1.9 million people are displaced across Gaza. I am deeply concerned about reports of new evacuation orders in the Khan Younis area."

Additionally, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Tuesday that the death toll from the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has lasted nearly nine months, has risen to at least 37,925. This alarming figure underscores the urgent need for international intervention and support to address the escalating humanitarian crisis.
