CAIRO - 23 June 2024: Lebanon's Hezbollah group announced on Sunday that it successfully targeted Israeli soldiers in a drone attack on the headquarters of the Israeli army's 91st Division located in Ayelet HaShahar, northern Israel.

According to the group, the attack resulted in casualties among the Israeli soldiers.

In a statement released on the messaging platform Telegram, Hezbollah stated that the drone strike was carried out in retaliation for the Israeli enemy's recent assassination in the town of Al-Khayara, located in Lebanon's Bekaa district.

Tensions between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah have escalated since the outbreak of the Gaza war on October 7.

The conflict has witnessed almost daily exchanges of cross-border fire between the two sides.

Adding to the regional instability, Iran-backed Houthi rebels have targeted ships linked to Israel, while in response, the United States and the United Kingdom have launched airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen.

The recent claim by Hezbollah underscores the ongoing hostilities and the volatile nature of the situation between Israel and its adversaries in the region.

Further developments and responses are expected as tensions persist to simmer and as the war in Gaza continues for the ninth month despite mediators’ attempts to broker a ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel.
