CAIRO – 18 June 2024: Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said Egypt’s embassy in Riyadh and consulate in Jeddah are making extensive efforts in coordination with Saudi authorities to search for Egyptian pilgrims, who had gone missing while performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

The spokesman added that the embassy dispatched a diplomatic mission to Makka to visit Egyptian pilgrims, who were transferred to hospitals and medical centers in holy sites to check on their health condition, as well as take all measures related to moving the bodies of Egyptians, who passed away during their Hajj pilgrimage at Mina and Arafat.

Abu Zeid stated that the Egyptian consulate in Jeddah launched an emergency room operating 24 hours a day to receive calls from citizens who have lost contact with their families in Makka, Medina, or at any of the Holy Sites.

The consulate has allocated the following phone number to receive citizens' calls: 00966565702002.

The ministry extended sincere condolences to the families of the deceased pilgrims, emphasizing that it would continue its efforts around the clock until all Egyptian pilgrims return home safely.
