CAIRO – 18 June 2024: A US State Department spokesperson announced that they are collaborating with the governments of Egypt and Israel to reopen the Rafah crossing. Additionally, efforts are ongoing with the Israeli government to secure the entry and exit of relief workers from and to Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing.
During a press conference broadcasted by al-Qahera News, the spokesperson stated that they are continuously working with Israelis to take further steps to improve the humanitarian situation in southern Gaza. The decision to form an Israeli war government is an internal matter for Israel and does not concern the United States.
The Israeli occupation forces continue to launch hundreds of airstrikes and artillery shelling, committing crimes across various regions of the Gaza Strip. These actions include bloody massacres against civilians and horrific crimes in areas of incursion, amidst a catastrophic humanitarian situation resulting from the blockade and the displacement of more than 90% of the population.
Israeli occupation aircraft have destroyed entire residential blocks in the Gaza Strip, following a comprehensive destruction policy during their ongoing aggression on the region.
Thousands of martyrs and wounded remain trapped under the rubble due to continuous bombing and the dangerous field conditions. The severe blockade on the Gaza Strip imposes strict restrictions on the entry of fuel and urgent vital aid needed to alleviate the catastrophic humanitarian situation.
