CAIRO – 17 June 2024: Egyptian Public Prosecutor Counselor Mohamed Shawqi arrived Sunday in Moscow to meet his Russian counterpart Igor Krasnov and sign an MoU to cooperate on crimes of terrorism, extremism, money laundering, human trafficking, illegal migration, organ trafficking, environmental crimes, and cybercrimes, especially those pertaining to cryptocurrencies.
The two sides also signed another MoU for each country to deliver training to prosecutors from the other country in 2026. In that regard, Counselor Shawqi directed prosecutors who would join the training programme to begin learning the Russian language at the Russian cultural center in Cairo.
The Egyptian public prosecutor will also attend the 6th Meeting of Heads of BRICS Prosecution Services held in St. Petersburg on June 18-19. It will be Egypt's first participation since it joined the bloc at the beginning of the year.
