CAIRO – 17 June 2024: Egypt’s General Authority of Meteorology monitored a slight drop in temperatures, with values ranging from 3 to 2 degrees in the north of the country to Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt, after a severe heat wave hit the country during the previous days.
The Meteorological Authority indicated that the maximum temperatures expected on Monday as follows:
Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt: 37 degrees
Northern coasts: 30 degrees
South Sinai: 42 degrees
North Upper Egypt: 40 degrees
South Upper Egypt: 46 degrees
On June 13, member of the Media Center of the General Meteorological Authority Dr. Manar Ghanem, confirmed that Egypt reached the peak of the heat wave on Thursday, and the that wave is expected to resume until Friday.
She explained that the temperature will witness further rises, with the maximum recorded Thursday hits 40 degrees and on Friday, it is expected to reach 43 degrees.
Manar Ghanem, during a phone call with DMC TV channel, warned against direct exposure to sunlight during the afternoon periods from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., stating that the humidity level has begun to increase in the afternoon.
She continued: “Temperatures in the coastal areas range from 36 to 37 degrees Celsius, and on the first day of Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), there will be a decrease in temperature values by an average of 3 degrees, and it is expected to reach 38 and 39 degrees, but the weather will remain very hot and the coastal areas will be between 31 and 32 degrees Celsius, confirming that the weather will be moderate in most governorates during Eid days.
