Egyptian president heads to Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage

CAIRO – 13 June 2024: President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi headed Thursday to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to do the pilgrimage that majorly takes place during the four-day Adha Eid, which will begin on Sunday.

In March, President Sisi made a phone call to Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman to greet him on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. The two leaders had met in May 2023 on the sidelines of the 32nd session of the Arab League Summit.

The last visit by President Sisi to Saudi Arabia was in November as he was attending the extraordinary joint Islamic-Arab summit on the Gaza War that had erupted the month before.
