CAIRO - 10 June 2024: The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said that the UN Security Council was too late in carrying out its responsibility, which allowed thousands of Palestinian casualties to fall, according to Al-Qahera News TV channel report.  
 
Aboul Gheit added: "The Israeli aggression must be curbed immediately."
 
The UN Security Council adopted a draft American resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and the unconditional implementation of the deal between the Israeli occupation forces and the Palestinian factions, to exchange prisoners and hostages.
 
The Security Council adopted the American resolution, with 14 countries agreeing and one country abstaining from voting.
 
Russia abstained from voting on the US draft resolution regarding the calm in the Gaza Strip.
