CAIRO – June 10 2024: The Ministry of Health announced that it provided medical check-ups and treatment to 10,287 Egyptian pilgrims through 24 medical clinics affiliated with the Egyptian medical mission for Hajj, as of last Sunday evening. Out of these, 8,490 pilgrims received services in Mecca, and 1,797 in Medina.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that 655 patients were referred to Saudi hospitals, including 625 in Mecca and 30 in Medina. All but 21 of these patients have been discharged after receiving necessary medical care. Additionally, arrangements were made for dialysis sessions for four Egyptian pilgrims.

Dr. Amr Rashid, Head of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority and Head of the Hajj medical mission, confirmed the safety of all Egyptian pilgrims from infectious diseases. He emphasized the full cooperation and coordination with all hospitals and health authorities in Saudi Arabia.

Rashid added that the medical mission teams continue their regular visits to the accommodations of Egyptian pilgrims in Mecca and Medina hotels. They organize daily seminars to educate the pilgrims on the necessary measures to protect themselves from illnesses, ensuring their safety throughout the pilgrimage and upon their return to Egypt.

Rashid noted that the mission has conducted 1,060 awareness seminars in the hotels where Egyptian pilgrims are staying in Mecca and Medina. These seminars benefited 31,250 pilgrims and covered topics such as maintaining room cleanliness, food safety practices, handwashing, personal hygiene, and the importance of not sharing personal items.
