CAIRO – 2 June 2024: The Israeli Alma Research Center, specializing in Israeli studies, has released a report on Lebanese Hezbollah's attacks against Israel, highlighting May 2024 as the month with the highest intensity of such attacks since October 2023.
According to the center, Hezbollah conducted 325 attacks against Israel's northern region in May. The report notes a daily average of 10 attacks, contrasting with April's figures, during which Hezbollah launched 238 attacks, averaging 7.8 attacks per day.
Regarding the analysis of weapons used by Hezbollah, the center noted a significant surge in the use of anti-tank missiles and drones in May, doubling compared to April.
In May, the Lebanese movement executed 95 anti-tank shooting attacks, a notable increase from the 50 attacks recorded in April. Additionally, there were 85 drone attacks in May, compared to 42 in April.
The report also highlights a significant escalation in the activation of drone systems by Hezbollah in May. Over the last four months (February to May), there has been a more than 12-fold increase in the number of drone attacks against Israel.
Furthermore, there's a slight upward trajectory in missile attacks. In May, Hezbollah conducted 139 missile attacks, compared to 128 in April.
Since the beginning of the conflict, Hezbollah has carried out 1,964 attacks along Israel's northern border, with 46% of them targeting infrastructure and civilian areas, as noted by the Israeli center.
Just one day after the outbreak of the Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, the Lebanese Hezbollah has launched a war of attrition against Israel in retaliation of the systematic killing of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip by Israeli forces. Confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel resulted in casualties on both sides, raising concerns about the potential escalation of hostilities along the border.
