CAIRO - 1 June 2024: Since the outbreak of the Sudanese crisis in mid-April 2023, Egypt has played a pivotal role in calming the conflict between the two sides of the crisis, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.

Egypt has spared no effort in hosting many meetings of various political forces and all parties, and has stood neutral and at the same distance from everyone.

In this context, Egypt will host, at the end of June, a conference that includes all Sudanese civil political forces, in the presence of relevant regional and international partners, with the aim of reaching a consensus between the various Sudanese civil political forces on ways to build comprehensive and lasting peace in Sudan, through a Sudanese/Sudanese national dialogue.

Within the framework of Egypt’s keenness to make all possible efforts to help brotherly Sudan overcome the crisis it is going through, and to address its serious repercussions on the Sudanese people and the security and stability of the region, especially Sudan’s neighboring countries, and based on the fraternal and deep historical and social ties that link the Egyptian and Sudanese peoples.

The Egyptian call comes from a firm belief that the current conflict in Sudan is essentially a Sudanese issue, and that any future political process should include all active national parties on the Sudanese scene, and within the framework of respecting the principles of Sudan’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, non-interference in its internal affairs.

Egypt is organizing this conference to complement its ongoing efforts and endeavors to stop the ongoing war in Sudan, and within a framework of cooperation and integration with the efforts of regional and international partners, especially Sudan’s neighboring countries, the parties to the Jeddah talks, the United Nations, the African Union, the League of Arab States, and the IGAD Organization.

It looks forward to the active participation of all Sudanese civil political forces, relevant regional and international partners, and joined efforts to ensure the success of the conference in achieving the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people.

In turn, the Republic of Sudan welcomed Egypt’s intention to host a conference for all Sudanese civil political forces at the end of June 2024, and the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed the confidence of the Sudanese government and people in sisterly Egypt and its leadership.
