National Dialogue Board of Trustees to meet, Saturday to continue discussions

CAIRO – 27 May 2024:  Egypt’s General Coordinator of the National Dialogue Diaa Rashwan, announced on Monday that given the current developing situation surrounding the country and the region, the Board of Trustees of the Dialogue decided to meet to continue its activities, on Saturday, June 1, at 1 pm at the headquarters of the National Training Academy.

Rashwan explained that the Dialogue’s agenda will include, discussing issues of national security and foreign policy in light of the dangerous circumstances created by the bloody Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The discussions will aim at developing proposals that support Egypt’s firm positions regarding Palestine, along with protecting the country’s national security and sovereignty.

 The Board will also discuss what has been done so far by the government in implementing the outcomes of the first phase of the dialogue and setting controls and a mechanism for the work of the committee emanating from the Board of Trustees to follow up on this in coordination with the government.

The Board of Trustees is also expected to follow up and evaluate the dialogue committees and topics that have not yet been discussed or parts of them have not been discussed, and propose the appropriate timetable for discussing them.

Rashwan explained that any further issues might be discussed according to the Board's suggestions.
