Egypt urges for opening all border crossings, warns of humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza

CAIRO – 25 May 2024: Egypt stressed the necessity of quickly opening all land crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip and stopping Israeli measures obstructing the entry of aid, said a high-level source.

In comments to Al Qahera News, the source added that Egypt warned of a humanitarian catastrophe, in light of Israel’s nonstop targeting of the health system, hospitals, bakeries, aid stores, and safe areas in the Gaza Strip.

“Egypt is steadfast in its commitment to urgently deliver aid to alleviate the suffering of the people in the Gaza Strip. The interim measures currently in place reflect Egypt's recognition of the gravity of the situation in Gaza,” the source said.

Egypt continuesd its efforts to reactivate the Gaza ceasefire negotiations and the prisoner swap deal, the source added, saying “Egypt is conducting intensive contacts to restore calm in the Gaza Strip and supplying fuel and medical supplies to the Gaza Strip’s hospitals: the source said.”
